The Dodge, Fillmore and Olmsted (DFO) Community Corrections System contributes to the well-being of our communities by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens while exercising reasonable, safe and humane control, and by helping and supporting those affected by criminal behavior.

Corrections generally refers to the community's formal response to persons convicted of crimes. Locally, DFO Community Corrections includes both services to those who have been convicted of crimes (offenders) and those who are directly harmed by crime (victims). Three main divisions comprise DFO Corrections: Juvenile Court Services, Adult Court Services, and Victim Services. The philosophy of community corrections works to keep more offenders in the community and involves various community members and community groups and volunteers. Emphasis is placed on delivering rehabilitative and restorative programming with the intention of assisting offenders to increase competencies while reducing their risk to re-offend. In addition services are offered to victims so that they are restored for their loss and/or gain emotional healing.

History:
Dodge, Fillmore, and Olmsted (DFO) Community Corrections is under the umbrella of Olmsted County Community Services. The three counties, by a Joint Powers Resolution, declared to jointly provide local comprehensive correctional programs under the Community Corrections Act of 1973. Each county shares personnel, facilities and financial resources in the development of the Community Corrections System.
