Habitat for Humanity - Rochester Area

Our mission is to partner with God's people in need to provide simple, decent, and affordable housing." We serve Olmsted County plus Chatfield, Pine Island, Kasson, and Mantorville. People who are selected to be Habitat homeowners, must donate 200 "sweat" equity hours to build their own and other Habitat homes. Our homes come with a 20-30 year, interest free mortgage. Habitat for Humanity is an economic developer, not a charity. We give a hand up not a hand out. We foster partnership "with" not "for". We give away an opportunity, not a free house. We seek to break the cycle of poverty, not maintain it. We empower individuals, not enable them.

Description:
We invite people with and without building experience to join our team of volunteers. We offer a variety of volunteer experiences. It takes more than a hammer to build a house. We have committees, special projects, youth groups, clean-up work - in fact - if you've got an interest, we can find a need to match it. We love our volunteers!

History:
RAHH was established in 1990 in response to a critical need for affordable housing in this area. Since that time we have housed 57 families which includes over 400 people. We are building a stronger community of homeowners - one house, one family at a time.
