Position title: Community Basics Community Solution Team Member
Description: Community Basics is about helping meet basic needs of people. Stabilizing lives with a safety net. Our outcome is that people’s basic need of food, shelter, safety, and inclusivity are addressed.

United Way of Olmsted County's Community Basics Solutions Team serves as the primary mechanism for planning, status assessment, priority setting, distribution of resources, and results measurement. As a member of the Community Basics Solutions Team you will:

  1. Create a vision, identify critical objectives and work in partnership with community resources to achieve key results and improvements in the identified focus area (community basics).
  2. Develop knowledge and expertise in the identified focus area (community basics).
  3. Seek sustainable solutions and strategies in the identified focus impact area (community basics).
  4. Prioritize and plan a course of action that will lead to sustainable results in the identified focus impact area (community basics).

TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assess and develop a clear understanding of the current state of the issues through a process of community engagement, education, and research
• Craft a plan containing goals, objectives, priorities, and desired outcomes and strategies for action
• Create resource plans, including fund distribution recommendations, to support strategies and attain desired outcomes
• Establish and monitor collaborations and partnership initiatives and activities that further stated goals
• Monitor and report progress within focus area
• Re-evaluate the plan, actions, and directions as learning occurs and outcomes are received
• Recruit new members as needed
• Undertake new approaches when appropriate (i.e. public policy recommendations)
• Prepare for meetings by reading, analysis, and assigned tasks

TIME COMMITMENT
• Full term is three (3) years and maximum tenure is two (2) terms
• Minimum of one meeting per month (generally 1 – 1.5 hours)
• Meeting preparation per month (1 hour)
