Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Do your enjoy cats? This is a way to enjoy cats without having a cat in the house--like a time share cat. Cats all have a personality, and you can find the perfect fit for you. We need volunteers to give fresh food and water, and clean and change bedding for the cats at our shelter.

AGE OF VOLUNTEER: 16 and older. COMMITMENT: 2 hours one day a week or 4 hours every other week. DAY OF WEEK: flexible, all days. TIME OF DAY: flexible, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This job involves bending stooping and lifting up to 20 pounds. Volunteer must not be allergic to cats.

I learned new skills, but mainly worked with fantastic people!!!

Worked with Terry Hagen on updating the 211 system in Olmsted County for 3 months. I hadnt worked outside the home for 8 years, and despite my disability was able to gain self-confidence and it also helped my 12-Step Program. I learned that helping others was essential to my Recovery from Chemical Dependency. Everyone at the United Way was more than welcoming to me in every way.
