Volunteer Opportunity Details:

The Family Access Center provides a safe, positive and neutral environment for children to maintain relationships with parents they do not live with. Volunteers will provide supervised visitation (parenting time) for children and parents at our center. Volunteers will monitor all activities and conversation to assure child safety. Many of our families are referred through the court and child protection. Most of the children have witnessed domestic violence between their parents or are at risk of child abuse or neglect. The Family Access Center allows children to keep relationships with both parents without being placed in the middle of domestic violence or parental conflict.

AGE OF VOLUNTEER: 18 and older. COMMITMENT: once a month (3 hours a month) for 1 year. DAYS OF WEEK/TIME OF THE DAY: Wednesdays, 5 - 8 p.m.; Fridays, 5 - 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m. - noon and 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.; Sundays, 1 - 4 p.m. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Application and background check is required. All individuals need to possess a belief that children have the right to maintain a relationship with both parents regardless the situation the parents may be in.
