Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Volunteers greet customers and work in the holiday cafe. Duties include serving cookies and hot/cold refreshments, making gingerbread cookies, and keeping the cafe and tables clean. Standing/walking.

For the 24th year, the Festival of Trees Celebration of Giving will benefit Hiawatha Homes. In the Rochester area, Hiawatha provides residential services for more than 130 individuals with developmental disabilities and the sometimes-accompanying medical disabilities. Our programs provide environments for the people we support, from children to adults, to choose opportunities for individualized growth, development, and community inclusion.

The Festival of Trees has become a holiday event anticipated each year during Thanksgiving week by the entire Rochester community. We are grateful for the wonderful support the community gives our special event.

We invite you to volunteer your time and talents at this year's festival. Volunteer opportunities are available from Wednesday, November 25 through Sunday, November 29.

AGE OF VOLUNTEER: 16 and older. COMMITMENT: flexible, one shift. DAY OF WEEK: Wednesday, November 25 through Sunday, November 29, 2009. TIME OF DAY: 10:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. There are three shifts; each shift is about three hours in length. The shifts are as follows: 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., and 4 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Volunteers need to have a pleasant personality, interest is working with customers, and good food handling practices are necessary.
