Crisis line advocates staff our 24 hour crisis line. This can be done from their own home with an agency cellular telephone. Volunteers caring voices provide emotional support, referrals, and information about recovering from sexual assault. They also help callers explore options and make decisions regarding healing and possible legal action. During their shift, these trained volunteers are also available to assist a victim/survivor at the hospital and/or law enforcement center.

AGE OF VOLUNTEER: 18 and older. COMMITMENT: One year. DAY OF WEEK: Crisis line seeks volunteers willing to volunteer the line evening/overnight and weekends shifts throughout the year. Wonderful people, wonderful experience
I have gained so much by volunteering. The staff at Victim Services is just wonderful. They are some of the most understanding and positive people I have came across in Rochester. You do have to train for 40+ hours, but it is worth it. You get to learn a lot about sexual assault as well as community resources. You get to volunteer from home as well. I have had nothing but a wonderful experience...it is challenging work emotionally, but it is worth it to help someone in need.
