MAD DADS is an acronym for Men Against Destruction Defending Against Drugs And Social Disorder. MAD DADS is a national, not-for-profit, non-traditional parenting program designed to mobilize men in the struggle to save youth from guns, drugs, violence and social disorder. The mission of MAD DADS is to bring about positive change. MAD DADS seek out, encourage, motivate and guide committed men in the struggle to save children, communities, and ourselves from the social ills that presently plague neighborhoods.

Description:
MAD DADS IS A VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION OF MEN AND WOMEN (PARENTS) WHO WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE WITHIN THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS. (THIS IS A CITY-WIDE EFFORT.)

This is done via weekly neighborhoods street patrols, weekly meetings to plan community-wide activities, events and projects that promote positive involvement of parents, especially men/fathers with the community in general.

History:
MAD DADS started in May 1989 in Omaha, Nebraska. Gang members who wanted to take his Jeep Suzuki because it had blue and red colors on it viciously beat John Fosters' son, who was home on spring break from college. When Sean finally made it home, beaten and bloody, and told his father what had happened, John Foster went to the streets with loaded guns to seek revenge. After looking for hours in vain for his son's attackers, he returned home, took his rage, and turned it into something positive...MAD DADS!
