Sarpy County CASA Program
The Sarpy County CASA Program is dedicated to advocating for abused and neglected children within the Juvenile Court System. Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers are recruited and trained to speak up for the best interests of the children, and appointed to work with a particular family in Sarpy County.
Description:
CASA volunteers go through screening and 30 hours of training and are sworn in as officers of the court. Volunteers spend an average of 8 hours a month volunteering. They visit the children they are assigned to and get to know them; talk to family members, casemanagers, attorneys, teachers and therapists, and make recommendations to the Juvenile Court about what would be in the best interests of the children.the program is based at the Sarpy County Courthouse and has a full time coordinator.
History:
Sarpy County CASA Program was created as a County Program in 1986, as part of the National CASA Association. There are now 20 CASA Programs in Nebraska. In 2000 Sarpy County CASA Program had 52 volunteers serving 156 children.

Sarpy County CASA Program is based in the Juvenile Court in the Hall of Justice at Sarpy County Courthouse. The Courthouse is in Papillion on Goldengate Drive, at the intersection of Highway 370 and Washington Street (84th Street South). |
