To expand the community capacity to support quality mentoring relationships for youth. Mentors can make a difference in as little as 2 hours per month in their own community! Opportunities exist to connect with programs that are searching for mentors in areas including after-school tutors, story time readers at local libraries, career presenters to speak to local students, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and e-mentors. We will help you find the right program for you.

Description:
The Mentoring Partnership of SW PA serves as a resource to more than 140 mentoring programs in our region. We provide mentor training, assist volunteers in finding the mentoring program that fits their interests, help children find the right mentoring program for them, and assist new and existing mentoring programs with program development and implementation. Lastly, we seek to raise awareness of the value of mentoring and the need for mentors.

History:
The Mentoring Partnership began in Pittsburgh in 1995, and has continued to grow - serving more agencies and, in turn, more families each year. In 2004, more than 14,000 youth were in mentoring relationships. There were an additional 1700 + on waiting lists with local agencies.
