Organizational philosophy:
CHC’s 12 member Board, four full-time staff, volunteers, and community partners work hard to advance our mission “to inspire a consumer movement to advance health and enhance access to quality, affordable health care.” We believe that access to quality, affordable health care, and ultimately good health and wellness, are critical to a person’s ability to reach his or her potential. We also know that people experience disparate ‘starting points’ or access to resources that are unfortunately correlated with socioeconomic status, racial or ethnic background, and disability status. CHC is dedicated to the eradication of disparities in health access and outcomes, and will continue pushing until every person has the health coverage and care they need.
Volunteer opportunities:
CHC is always in need of energetic, dedicated, and responsible volunteers:
Support in assembling large mailings.
Assistance in assembling packets for community partner agencies. These packets include information on community-based resources for the uninsured
(i.e. publicly-funded health insurance, prevention programs, low-cost health care).
Attending health fairs and community events with CHC staff to help spread the word about our free helpline for the uninsured and community programs.
Support in staffing CHC events. This might include help with set-up, staffing the registration table or CHC information table, support with a/v, clean-up, etc.
Writing articles for the CHC newsletter and website.
Assistance with general office responsibilities including filing and data entry.
If you are interested in volunteering at CHC, please contact Leslie Bachurski at (412) 456-1877 or lbachurski@consumerhealthcoalition.org.
