Take the Kettle Challenge!
RSS XML FeedBackground Active Oct 15, 2002 to Dec 31, 2002

Looking for a way to help your community while rediscovering the true Christmas spirit? Each year, The Salvation Army struggles to staff its familiar red kettles, located in shopping malls, outside of stores, and on street corners.

We are seeking volunteers who are willing to commit at least 2 hours to standing at a kettle and greeting donors and those that pass by. This is an excellent opportunity for community-minded organizations or corporation to "sponsor a kettle" for the day and many local corporations and organizations have become involved in our "kettle challenge."

We encourage people to stand at kettles in pairs. Proceeds from the kettles go directly toward the needs of the community where each kettle is located. Often we are forced to hire individuals to staff many of their sites. The Kettle Challenge's goal this year is to reduce the number of paid workers, thus increasing the net dollars that will go to needy families.

Kettle volunteers must be over age 15 to volunteer alone but all ages are welcomed and encouraged with adult supervision. No special skills are needed--just a smile!
