Walk to D'feet ALS on Saturday Oct 26, North Park Boat House. Registration begins 9:00am ,Walk start 11:oo am info is available on ALS website www.alswp.org WHAT IS ALS? Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease", is a fatal neuromuscular disease which attacks the motor neurons making even the simplest movements of walking, speaking, gesturing nearly impossible. Mental functions, however, are not impaired. The disease was named for the famous New York Yankee, Lou Gehrig, who played a record 2,130 consecutive games before his disease forced a premature retirement in 1939. Volunteers are needed to help on the day of the walk. Donate your time and talents in any of the following ways: * Registration - Greet participants, process their contributions and hand out t-shirts. * Set-Up and Break-Down - help set up the site before the walk and then break it all down after. Strong men and women encouraged to apply! * Rest Stop Volunteer - man a water station along the route. * Food - Help prepare and distribute the picnic lunch to participants.
