The Jail Chaplaincy provides programming for the multi-faceted needs of inmates and their families, the large majority are poor and disenfranchised Racine County residents. It was begun by Sister Lois Aceto in 1982 and now is partially supported by the Sheriff. The Chaplain is the only employee of a non-profit Board.
