Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on September 15, 2009 |
Volunteers for the Senior Companion Program share their life stories and themselves by visiting homebound elderly and socializing with them. Personal time and conversation is the gift of this volunteer opportunity. Both individuals give and receive from each other. As stated by one volunteer, I have fallen in love with the person I see and enjoy each and every visit.
There is a 1-2 hour orientation with the the prospective volunteer visitor and the Director of this Ministry. It is important that the volunteer be aware of the commitment being made. Volunteers need to have their own transportation and agree to a professional volunteer background check. Ongoing educational presentations related to the needs of the elderly are availabe to all Senior Companion Program visitors.
