Help the LGBT Center Help the Community

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on January 28, 2009

In addition to opportunities to provide service, lead a program, and/or help out with projects or activities at the LGBT Center itself, we are committed to becoming an integral, respected, and responsive member of the greater Racine/Kenosha community. One way to accomplish this, we believe, is for those affiliated with the Center to help out as needed at other organizations in the community seeking volunteer support. We encourage LGBT people to be "out" and open about their sexual orientation, just as we hope that our friends and allies will acknowledge support for us and our cause. This will help others to recognize that LGBT people are simply one more variation in the greater prism of the population's colors.

We expect volunteers to feel comfortable being around LGBT people. We hope that teenagers might want to lead support and discussion groups for/about other teenagers, just as we encourage those who relate to being LGBT and single, older, of color, etc., to share experiences and similarities with others.
