Somerset County United Way helps support hundreds of local non-profit organizations through a variety of volunteer services and programs. These agencies work to improve the quality of life for people who live or work in and around Somerset County.
Our Organization
- Builds coalitions that work toward solutions to community problems.
- Raises funds and effectively invests them to meet critical service needs.
- Develops volunteer resources and promotes service to others.
- Strengthens and enhances the capacity of non-profit organizations to better serve Somerset County.
- Builds community collaboratives and partnerships.
- Maintains overhead costs of about 13 percent.
- Has 57 affiliated agencies and funds over 90 health and human service programs that improve the quality of life for people who live or work in Somerset County.
- Honored in 1997 with an Excellence in Service Quality Award, in which overall organizational performance is measured against a set of internationally recognized standards.
Our History
On October 15, 1990, the United Way of Somerset Valley merged with the Somerset Hills Community Chest, the Warren Township Committee Fund and the Watchung Borough Community Chest to form the Somerset County United Way.
