MISSION (Winning Proposition)
We are a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers serving children, families and individuals who are confronting economic and social challenges by ensuring the existence of cultural, recreational, educational and social programs.

Description:
Morristown Neighborhood House (MNH or Neighborhood House) was founded in 1898 as a settlement house that helped Italian immigrants in becoming acclimated to a new culture. MNH’s core mission; helping new immigrants, helping families who are confronting economic challenges and fostering cross cultural acceptance; has remained the same.

Through programs in Morristown, Dover, Randolph, Denville and Frelinghuysen Middle School on an average day over 1,200 children and youth receive services from MNH. Currently, Neighborhood House provides the following services/programs:

a. Three preschools;
b. Six School Aged Childcare Programs;
c. Structured Homework Assistance;
d. A computer Lab;
e. Recreation/Social Enrichment;
f. Two Summer Day Camp;
g. Youth Development Services;
h. Volunteers Program;
i. Community Development;
j. Infant & Toddler Programs

History:
Morristown Neighborhood House was founded in 1898 by concerned citizens. Our founders believed that the community would benefit from an agency that would assist Italian immigrants in becoming acclimated to a new culture. In 1901, a building located on Flagler Street was donated to house the program. Neighborhood House has remained in the same location for more than 100 years.

It was at Neighborhood House (also known as the “Nabe”) that several local agencies got their start, including the Urban League of Morris County, the Visiting Nurse Association, the Colonial Little Symphony, and the New Jersey Chorale Society. Morris County United Way, originally named The Community Chest, also had its start at Neighborhood House.
