Heartbeat of Toledo
Vision Life is sacred and must be protected and supported. Mission Heartbeat of Toledo is committed to promoting the well-being of girls and women with emotional and personal problems relating to actual or possible unexpected pregnancies through free, confidential and compassionate services.
Description:
Heartbeat of Toledo is an organization that provides information to girls and women seeking to make decisions about their unborn child. Our caring representatives, available 24-hours a day, offer alternatives to abortion by providing emotional support, education and practical assistance. Heartbeat is an incorporated, tax-exempt, non-political, non-profit and non-sectarian service organization that is governed by a Board of Trustees.
History:
Heartbeat of Toledo was founded in 1971 by Dr. John F. Hillabrand, a prominent Toledo obstetrician and gynecologist, and Mrs. Lore Maier. In his practice he saw the need of positive assistance to women who were facing unplanned pregnancies. He also saw the country moving toward legalized abortion and wanted to offer alternatives to it. Since those early years, Heartbeat has established three offices in the Toledo area. Thousands of women have received free, compassionate and nonjudgmental services from the caring hands of dedicated volunteers. These services are nondiscriminatory in reference to age, color, creed, national origin or marital status.
