Seeking Volunteers for Outdoor Art & Music Festival
Last updated on June 22, 2008

Jordan Lake Arts and Music is a newly formed registered non profit based out of Chatham County, focused on providing local creative minds the opportunity to share their imaginative vision. Jordan Lake Arts and Music encourages the union of a “creative economy” with “recreative enjoyment.” Striving for a win-win partnership, resulting in the intrinsic value gained in the enrichment of our community. We encourage people of all ages, culture and economic background with a supportive environment in which to explore and experience the arts.

We are currently in the preliminary stages of planning our very first outdoor festival to take place in late September. We're looking for volunteers, feedback, ideas and support. If you would like to a part of our festival volunteer team, please come out and join us on June 12, 2008 at 7pm for a meeting of the minds. The meeting will be held at Jordan Lake Farm: 1226 Martha's Chapel Road, Apex, NC 27523. For further information on the farm and for directions, check out our website : www.jordanlakefarm.org.

We are looking for people to work in a variety of departments, including pre-festival set-up, post festival clean up and break down, information administrators, and many, many more. The key here is flexibility. We cannot stress this enough. We need volunteers that are ready, willing, and able to go anywhere on the grounds to lend a helping hand and who are excited to be a part of this team effort.

There are two types of JLAM volunteers.

Pre-Festival Volunteers
Pre-festival volunteers work a few days prior to the festival.
Pre-festival volunteers are asked to work as much as they possibly can during crunch time.
Pre-festival volunteers will be needed in these areas:
-administrative work
-festival set up
-flier distribution and sign placement
-decorating the grounds

Festival Volunteers
Festival volunteers work during the actual day of the festival.
Festival volunteers are required to work the entirety of the festival or rotated in shifts.
Festival volunteers will be needed in these areas:
-Helping artists and musicians load, unload and set up.
-managing parking lot
-assist, inform and direct patrons
-festival clean up and tear down

Each volunteer will receive:
-Access to the festival
-JLAM staff t-shirt
-One boxed meal per shift
-And an unforgettable experience!

We will have volunteer meetings describing exactly what will be needed and to provide a tour of the grounds. Volunteers that work on the day of the festival should be able to walk around and be on their feet for a shift of 4 hours. There are also pre festival positions that require administrative work, email correspondence, phone calls and flyer distribution.
