Project Homeless Connect

Thursday, October 25, 2007

What is it?
Project Homeless Connect is a one-day, one-stop event where those who are homeless can access a variety of services including dental, housing, daycare and social services in one location. On Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, the Triangle will join more than 115 cities across the county and host its first Project Homeless Connect.  Each county will host its own connect event. Project Homeless Connect is an event being adopted by cities and counties across the country who have adopted 10-Year Plans to End Homelessness.

Services offered at Project Homeless Connect include:

  • Haircuts
  • Housing
  • Food Stamps
  • Credit checks
  • Employment applications
  • Personal care products
  • Child care enrollment
How to get involved?

Four hundred volunteers are needed to help make Project Homeless Connect a success. Contact the volunteer recruitment person for the county you would like to volunteer to sign up. We need:

  • Assembled Hygiene Packets:  Hygiene kits should be placed in storage bag and include: soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth or hand towel, deodorant, comb, shampoo, tissues, hand sanitizers, feminine hygiene products, razors, and shaving cream.
  • Men’s socks and underwear: Items needed to give to men as the weather changes.
  • Escorts: To help guide participants through the services.
