The Callen-Lacey Center for Children provides temporary care to clients ages newborn to 17 whom have been abused, neglected or abandoned.
Description:
The center provides the clients basic needs through group/individual therapy, group outings to activities, a warm bed, shelter and constant care. The emergency shelter assists children whom must be placed in temporary custody of the state in order to provide a safe environment.
History:
The Callen-Lacey Center for Children opened its doors in April 1998 and is located in Berkeley County. It is one of two emergency shelters in the tri-county and a program under the Carolina Youth Development Center.
