PINK HOUSE
Last updated on July 24, 2008

Our mission is to equip, empower and encourage community stake holder's participation in youth development for excellence in service and education. The mission is facilitated by providing education, services & technology directly in the community.

Description:
The PINK HOUSE is Ardmore-Sherwood residents taking a proactive position regarding the education and training of our children. Therefore the The Pink House is "People Innovating New Kinships"
Helping Others Uplift Services & Education.

The Pink House will provide a place by which face to face interactions among individuals of all races, and social-economic status and inter-general intercourse can occur.

These diverse community members can come together, get to know each other, reach out and touch each other and become resources to help to and for each other.

History:
The Pink House was founded in 1997 as an outreach ministry of the Low Country Christian Center, 7th Day Baptist Church located in North Charleston South Carolina.

A dilapidated house was painted pink and was called the P.I.N.K. H.O.U.S.E. (People Innovating New Kinships through Helping Others Uplift Service & Education). It serves as a central location for all community members to come, share, build, and make changes from within.

Originally programs offered were after school tutoring, computer learning and enrichment programs, basic home and money management, health education and resources for preventive medical services, home repairs and gardening, arts and crafts, peer reading and conflict resolution seminars. The program typically served 75 at risk children and youth living in poverty.

In 2000, the Pink House became a Community Technology Center through a collaborative initiative to bridge the digital divide for disadvantaged youth. Through partnerships with the Corporation of National Services and other local faith based organizations, the Pink House has provided services for hundreds of poverty stricken children and youth.

Today, 2007 the program is a program component for the Seventh Day Baptist Community Development Education and Service Outreach Ministries.
The organization officially became a 501c3 non-profit organization in October 2004.
