The mission of the Charleston Miracle League (CML) is to provide accessible recreational opportunities to all children and adults with mental and/or physical challenges so they can participate firsthand, as team members, in an organized baseball league.

Description:
CML provides baseball for special-needs children and adults. We have built a million dollar state-of-the-art facility with a specially designed baseball field for individuals in wheelchairs, walkers, gate problems, etc. Games are held 8 weeks in the Spring and 8 weeks in the Fall every Saturday from 9am-1pm every hour. Volunteers are necessary for our organization to run successfully. Volunteers usually are Fans in the stand or Buddies. Buddies are volunteers that pair up with players and play the game with them. They hit the ball, run the bases, give high-fives and hugs. It is a very minimal commitment with a great amount in return. Volunteers can come as often as their time allows.

History:
The Charleston Miracle League was started in the Spring of 2003 by the Founder, Channing Proctor. Through his tireless fundraising efforts, the field was built and the first game was held in November, 2003. The first actual season began in the Spring of 2004. CML is now in its fifth year of existence with six teams, over 100 players, and hundreds of volunteers. The community support is what has made our organization the success it is today.
