The mission of W.B. Goodwin Elementary is working in partnership with students, families, the workplace, and community, to prepare all students to be high achievers and responsible caring citizens by providing a nurturing environment that promotes self-esteem, respect for others and a passion for learning.
Description:
Goodwin Elementary serves over 600 pre-K-fifth grade students. 96.7% of our students receive free or reduced lunch indicating a high poverty rate. Because of the low-socioeconomic status of many of our families our students are considered "at-risk". Mentoring is a research proven strategy to help students of poverty succeed in school and in life. Help us close the achievement gap by volunteering at our school. Our students are in need of positive role models and nurturing relationships. Volunteers are needed to read with students, help in classrooms, work with students in small groups or even to eat lunch with students.
History:
Goodwin has been a public school serving this community for over fifty years.
