Lutheran Hospice, Low Country
Last updated on May 22, 2008

"Believing in the presence of God among us, affirming the value of human life and the dignity of the individual, the mission of Lutheran Hospice is to provide compassionate end-of-life care to people of all ages and faiths. Through teamwork and a servant's heart, we respond with integrity and strength of spirit."

Description:
"Lutheran Hospice, like all hospices, provides physical, emotional and spiritual services to its patients and families. It is the way that Lutheran Hospice provides these services that sets us apart.
Lutheran Hospice provides individualized end-of-life care by honoring a patient's choices for daily living.
Our focus is on patient and family values, goals and wishes, along with effective pain management tailored to each patient. Our team of nurses, social workers, nursing assistants, chaplains and trained volunteers provides comprehensive medical care, minimizing pain and allowing the patient to spend time with loved ones." This level of care is provided in a patient's home, or in an assisted living or skilled nursing facility. Our support to families and caregivers continues for over a year, with bereavement services that include personal counseling and support groups.

History:
Lutheran Hospice is a non-profit outreach ministry of Lutheran Homes of South Carolina, Inc. Lutheran Homes of SC provides health care and residential services throughout the state as an organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Lutheran Hospice was established in March 1995 as part of the continuum of care services provided at The Lowman Home in White Rock.
