Our Mission is to contribute to our children’s future and be a part of an enduring effort to promote safety and the well being of our children by providing them with the necessities of life and a welcoming safe environment. We promise to intervene at critical junctures with products and services that provide maximum positive impact including: creating libraries and recreation rooms at emergency shelters, providing clothes, toiletries and school supplies and providing household items to families who are reunited and trying to start anew.
Description:
Our organization provides numerous services to children and families in the Lowcountry. Not only do we provide clothing and toiletries to children in need, but we also sponsor numerous children's events throughout the year at places such as the aquarium and beach where children can come and have tons fun. We also work closely with many of the children's homes and shelters in the area to provide them with assistance in projects such as constructing libraries and game rooms.
History:
Lowcountry Orphan Relief began three years ago when Lynn Young, the founder, saw the need for clothing and basic necessities for children from her Guardian Ad Litem work. She began collecting donations on her front porch, but as the need grew expanded into a small storage shed, then a small space at a community center, and most recently an entire storage facility located out on the old naval base in North Charleston.
