MUSC Hollings Cancer Center fosters prevention and healing of cancer through discovery and understanding.
The mission of HCC Volunteer Services is to provide quality support services to patients, caregivers and staff with a positive, caring spirit.

Description:
Hollings Cancer Center(HCC)is committed to lowering cancer incidence in South Carolina and, at the same time, raising the quality of life for South Carolina cancer patients. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in South Carolina, claiming the lives of more than 9,000 citizens each year. HCC offers state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities, therapies and surgical techniques, and is a leader in patient care and research.

HCC's volunteer program was established to provide our patients and visitors with hospitality, services and amenities that would not otherwise be available.
Volunteering your time here means making a meaningful difference in the lives of others through creating a healing environment. Volunteers provide exceptional care and understanding by taking the time to give patients and their families the extra help and listening ear they need so much during their visit to the Center. Our dedicated volunteers allow us to offer some of the highest quality patient care available, as we strive to make every patient’s visit as comfortable and problem-free as possible.

History:
Since 1993, Hollings Cancer Center has provided research, treatment, prevention and control for cancer patients in South Carolina. Patient service has grown dramatically from 10,000 in 1993 to more than 60,000 in 2006. Our second cancer facility was completed in 2006 and houses multidisciplinary clinics, chemotherapy infusion suite, research labs, patient resource center and much more.
HCC is the only major academic-based cancer program in South Carolina and is currently seeking funding as a National Cancer Institute designated cancer center.
