The mission of Sea Island Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from Johns and Wadmalaw Islands, and to make decent housing a matter of conscience in our community.
Description:
Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere to develop communities with God's people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which people can live and grow into all that God intended. Sea Island Habitat for Humanity relies on volunteers and donations to achieve its goals of building new homes for families in need. It takes about 2000 hours of volunteer time to build a Habitat house! It takes about 1000 volunteer hours per month to keep the Resale Store running and making money for more Habitat houses!
History:
Sea Island Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1978 as the first HFH affiliate in SC. It is the third oldest affiliate in the world. Since 1978, Sea Island Habitat has built 208 homes. Our build plan for 2006 is 24 homes.
