The Charleston Council of Girl Scouts was chartered by the State of South Carolina as a corporation in 1941. Through an amendment to the articles of incorporation in 1947, the council became know as Carolina Low Country Girl Scouts. In 2000, the membership voted to change the corporate name to Girl Scouts of Carolina Low Country. In 2007, Girl Scouts of Carolina Low Country merged with Girl Scouts of the Pee Dee Area, Inc. to form Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina, combining their council areas and membership.
