Lesson Volunteers

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on July 1, 2009

This volunteer opportunity allows you to work with children and adults with disabilities as well as horses. As a lesson volunteer you will train for 2 hours in order to learn about our program, the community we serve, emergency/safety procedures, horse care, and the responsibilities of lesson volunteers (horse handlers HH and side walkers SW). Upon completion of the training, you are qualified to volunteer for therapeutic riding lessons as a HH or SW. Therapeutic lessons follow the Charleston County School District Calendar and are offered six days a week from late August through early June. Camps are offered during the summer. Ideally, we'd love for volunteers to make a weekly commitment, but are grateful for any time that one can offer.

No experience is necessary. Having horse experience is helpful as is any physical therapy background. You may not be allergic to horses for this volunteer opportunity.
