Provide comfort and support to victims of sexual violence in the community

PAR Volunteers provide comfort and support to adult and child victims of sexual assault that are seen at the Medical University of South Carolina for forensic exams; from Charleston, Dorchester and Berkeley Counties. Volunteers also answer calls from the 24 hour crisis hotline during the on-call shift.

As an advocate, you may be involved in:

  • 24 Hour Crisis Hotline, providing support to victims in times of crisis
  • Hospital Response
  • Providing additional resources and referrals appropriate for clients
  • Facilitating or Co-facilitation Support Groups
  • Event and Fundraiser Planning

As advocates, volunteers have direct contact with sexual assault victims in times of crisis and have the opportunity to network with victim assistance agencies.

All Volunteers must successfully complete a mandatory 25 hours of Volunteer Training offered quarterly.
All Volunteers must pass a background check
