RSVP matches the interests and experience of volunteers age 55 and older with a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout Salt Lake County.
Description:
Whatever your interests, skills or time you have to give RSVP has something for everyone. Serving more than 80 organizations throughout Salt Lake County, RSVP volunteers tutor children, help the frail elderly stay in their own homes, provide rides to medical appointments, serve in arts organizations, museums, gardens, a variety of organizations serving human needs, mentor at risk youth, serve in hospitals and hospice organizations, serve on various boards and committees, raise funds for worthy causes, provide service to the homeless and hungry and much more.
History:
RSVP is a national volunteer program authorized by Congress in 1969 under the Older Americans Act. Locally, RSVP is a program of Salt Lake County Aging Services. Presently there are more than 1200 RSVP volunteers serving with over 80 organizations. In 2007 RSVP volunteers donated 207,000 hours to the benefit of communities throughout the Salt Lake County area.
