Utah 4-H
4-H brings kids, parents and the community together!
4-H for boys and girls in grades 3-12 and their families. It’s available in every county to any kid ... any where ... any time through clubs, camps, afterschool programs, county and state fair, and many other events.
Description:
The Heart of 4-H!
The heart of 4-H is found within the power that parents and other community members have in working with youth to enhance lives and make a difference in communities. These youth/adult partnerships encourage youth to reach their fullest potential.
Do you like robotics, GPS, ATV’s, scrapbooking, cooking, gardening, dance, science, music, history, or public speaking? These are just a few of the variety of projects and fun things to do in 4-H. It’s not just a program for farm kids anymore – we’re still strong on the farm, and have gone way beyond it too into the urban and suburban areas of the state and nation.
While engaging youth in hands-on discovery and active learning, you get to meet new people, share your talents, learn new skills, and make a difference in your community.
Work with youth in school-based, afterschool and camp settings, as well as in community or neighborhood clubs
Serve as a chaperone, camp counselor, contest judge, workshop presenter, facilitator, and more…
Develop and support community service opportunities
Work with other adults to create fun, new programs for kids
With a variety of flexible options, you can decide your level of involvement, based on your skills and time available.
4-H is available through Utah State University Extension offices located in every county. Find us at www.Utah4h.org
History:
4-H celebrated 100 years in 2002! It is the largest out of school youth organization in the United States with over 7 million youth members. The home of 4-H in each state is the state's land-grant university, which in Utah, is Utah State University, the home of the Aggies. There is Cooperative Extension staff responsible for 4-H programs in every county and city - so there's probably a 4-H program near you. Whether you live in a city, suburb or rural area, there's something for you in 4-H.
