El Centro de Corazón provides services to the uninsured, underinsured and to those unable to afford health and dental care. El Centro has three separate locations that offering pediatric, prenatal, dental, primary medical, and mental health services to the community. In addition El Centro de Corazón has a full time nutritionist and eligibility workers to assist with applications for programs such as CHIP and Medicaid. Individuals and families may qualify for a sliding fee scale discount based on income and family size. For the convenience of our patients, all of our staff is fluent in English and Spanish.
History:
In June 1994, El Centro de Corazón was established as a social service agency for families in the East End. In 1996, El Centro initiated a mental health program, which is now available in all three of its sites. In October 2003, El Centro merged with Eastwood Health Clinic assuming responsibility for the primary health care and dental services. On December 1, 2003, El Centro was deemed a Federally Qualified Health Center. In November 2005, El Centro brought pediatrics and behavioral health services to the Magnolia Multi Service Center and in December 2007, El Centro added prenatal to the services at Magnolia.
