Be a Friend to a child with special needs

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on January 15, 2009

First off, you are paired with another teen who will be your partner in this wonderful deed. Then, after meeting with the staff, you and your buddy are matched with a child who has special needs. The two of you visit with your Special Friend at home on a weekly basis to share activities. Before long, your visits with this child become the thing he or she most looks forward to all week. The child’s parents are incredibly grateful for the welcome breather you give them. And you?... You’re blown away by how special these visits make you feel! The personal rewards are awesome!

Holiday Programs
Wanna celebrate? Can't commit to volunteering every week? Then being a part of our Jewish Holiday Programs is the way to go. You and your Special Friend will celebrate holidays together with the whole family - making memories along the way. It's anything but ordinary!

Fringe Benefits
In addition to the deep sense of satisfaction that will come from doing something so kind and unselfish with your time, there are also enjoyable perks that our teenage volunteers get to enjoy by joining the Friendship Circle. Examples of these are: awesome trips, social events, interactive workshops and a grand year-end “Volunteer Appreciation Night”.

and say "yes" to becoming a Friendship Circle Volunteer…

A Special Friend is waiting for your visit.

Volunteers must be ready to make a commitment and carry through with it. Visits usually take place for 1 hour a week, day and time is determined by the volunteer and the family they will be visiting based on scheduling availability. Once these are determined they must be respected and kept as any other commitment. Volunteers must show up on time for their visit.
