The mission of Hospice of Northeast Missouri is to provide compassionate physical, spiritual and emotional end-of-life care to the terminally ill. We serve not only the patient, but the family and caregivers as they share this part of life's journey.

Description:
Hospice affirms life. Those with a terminal illness may use the support of nurses, social worker, chaplain, aides and volunteers. Care to the patients and their families is patient centered and fully coordinated, in the hope that those that are dying may live fully and comfortably until they die. We achieve this goal by meeting the physical needs of pain control and comfort measures. We also help with achieving a sense of peace with a social worker who can provide counseling to the caregivers, or by assuring that the end of life tasks are completed. The chaplain coordinates spiritual care that is integral in bringing to our patients and their family a sense of worth and life closure. The volunteers provide the support to not only the patient but to the caregiver. The simple activity of sitting with a patient, reading the newspaper or just by being present is one that indicates to the patient dying that they are valued by others.

History:
Originally known as Hospice 2000, we are a not-for-profit agency that was initially funded through a rural health grant program in 1993. We have served over 1300 patients and their families in that time. In addition to providing comprehensive hospice services, Hospice of Northeast Missouri also was a model teaching hospice, and we have had over 300 medical, nursing and other allied health students educated in end-of-life care.

Directions:

We are in the lower level of the Alliant Bank, which is at the northeast corner of Jefferson and Baltimore. You may enter from the south parking lot to get directly to our offices.
