Description:
It is the goal of the YMCA to provide opportunities for youth and adults alike, while encouraging the whole family to participate in activities together. The YMCA strives to build positives values, such as caring, respect, honesty and responsibility, through the programs offered. We call these our four core values and they are inherent in everything we do.

Specifically, the Adair County Family YMCA provides youth t-ball. soccer and basketball leagues, tumbling, cheerleading and youth fitness classes, football and soccer camps, swim lessons, summer day camp, after school and a variety of special events for kids. Adults enjoy fitness classes, a fitness center with cardio, circuit-training equipment and free weights, a walking track, volleyball league, racquetball courts and a sauna/hot tub.

The YMCA is situated across from the Kirksville R-III schools and sits on 14 acres.

History:
The Adair County Family YMCA began its operation in Kirksville in the summer of 1964 as a storefront operation. The Adair County Family YMCA joined the United Way in 1967. Without a full facility the YMCA utilized available gymnasiums, rooms, equipment and pools within the community to offer programs and services. In August of 1986 Hollister Inc. generously donated 14 ½ acres in southeast Kirksville. On November 2, 1987 the Adair County Family YMCA opened the doors of the current facility. In that short time more than a half-million people have been served by the YMCA.
