People Plus

Our mission is "People Plus supports an engaged, healthy, and independent life for older adults, while joining with others to build community for all ages." Our vision is to achieve our mission via intergenerational and meaningful peer programs available to members and non-members in the Brunswick area.

Description:
As the senior center for Brunswick, Topsham, and Harpswell, People Plus provides educational, wellness, recreational, art, inter-generational, and social programs. People Plus also offers a comprehensive outreach program to support the needs and wishes of the older adults in our community. Our activities include Reiki and energy sessions, lunches out, beginner and intermediate art, several different types of physical wellness and exercise classes, day and overnight trips, educational presentations, card sessions, the Center Stage Players theater group, our own Thrift Shop, quilters, crafters, Time Out creative writers' group, and spiritual discussion groups. Our outreach services include the Buzz Program, a reassurance telephone calling program, the On The Go transportation program, and the Good Morning daily check-in program. Although $15 annual membership is needed for participation in regular programs and trips, our outreach services are available to anyone.
Volunteers are depended upon for the daily operation of the center, outreach work, and special events. People Plus is supported by area agencies, United Way, and volunteers.

History:
People Plus has been providing services and programs to our older adult community since 1976. Since that time, although our name has changed from The Brunswick Senior Center to 55 Plus Center to its present name, our focus has remained on the wellness of our older adults. Our membership is 1200 which represents those interested in supporting our programs as well as those interested in participating.
