Are you a newcomer to the Greater Bath or Brunswick area? Would you like to get acquainted with an elderly person in your town?

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on April 28, 2009

Are you new to the Greater Bath or Brunswick area? Would you like to meet someone that knows the area well and would love to have you visit? We have many elderly people in the area that are still independent and living alone or in assisted living homes. They are isolated from the general population by not being able to drive anymore or maybe they have no family members close by. Many of their friends have passed away or cannot come to see them as often. It's lonely. If you would enjoy getting to know an elderly person, you may want to consider volunteering for this program. We match a volunteer with one elderly person. Then, the two of you can make plans to just visit, take a walk, go shopping, or maybe provide transportation to a doctor's appointment. The opportunity to do something they haven't been able to do in a long time is exciting to the senior and rewarding to the volunteer. We've seen seniors go from being complacent to trying new things again. Call to find out how you can help another.

Volunteer applicants fill out applications and are screened. Training is provided via the Volunteer Coordinator. A valid driver's license and insurance is required if the volunteer transports the elderly person.
