Maine Hospice Cycling Event
RSS XML FeedBackground Active Jul 16, 2008 to Aug 23, 2008

The Dan Michaud Memorial Ride is now the
Maine Hospice Event
.

Since 1986, friends and supporters of Dan R. Michaud have honored his end-of-life struggle by raising money and riding in the Annual Dan Michaud Memorial Ride.  The tradition continues this year under a new banner and with new memorials. The Maine Hospice Event celebrates the lives of passed loved ones by supporting the people and organizations working to improve end-of-life care.

Honor the memory of your passed loved ones by participating in this important annual fund raising event and enjoy one of the best bike treks in the country, the best food served at a cycling event, and great live music by the Blues Buzzards.

100% of your raised pledges go to the local, direct-service volunteer hospice program -- Hospice Volunteers: Center for Grief and Loss in Mid Coast Maine, and the state-wide efforts of the Maine Hospice Council and Center for End-of-Life Care.

The Maine Hospice Council and Center for End-of-Life Care exists to ensure the continued development of Hospice and Palliative Care in Maine.  The Council provides education and technical assistance regarding end-of-life care, as well as advocacy for terminally ill and bereaved persons.

Hospice Volunteers: Center for Grief and Loss in Mid Coast Maine is a volunteer organization that provides caring, supportive, non-medical services to individuals and families coping with dying and grief, and promotes education and dialogue within the community about end-of-life issues. In 1979, it began as a grass roots effort by a group of dedicated volunteers who offered assistance to families caring for a dying member at home.

The Maine Hospice Cycling event will take place on Saturday, August 23, starting at the Brunswick Gazebo located at the south end of the Brunswick town mall, on Maine Street.  Registration opens at 7:30 am.
