Airport Ambassador Program

The San Antonio International Airport Ambassador's are committed to assisting San Antonio International Airport visitors in a warm and courteous manner, providing information and services that fall within the guidelines of the Ambassador program. Our volunteers are appreciated and treated with respect as they reflect the diverse culture of San Antonio and the travelers we assist.

Description:
The Airport Ambassador Program is a volunteer organization that provides visitors and locals with information on the airport and the city of San Antonio. You meet and greet each and every passenger and visitor. Ambassadors provide "Texas Friendly Hospitality" to the 8 million annual travelers through San Antonio International Airport. Assist visitors with information on transportation, hotels, dining, shopping, area attraction and points of interest by providing a variety of options for the visitor through a handout. Answer questions and providing fun facts. Respond to inquiries and assist in contacting airport personnel as needed. Provide valuable feedback for the improvement of facilities and services. Pass out helpful materials. Assist Aviation staff with special events. The Ambassador Program falls under the Public Relations section, so our volunteers are front and center at many airport events, such as: Ribbon cuttings, Press conferences, Airline inaugurals, Ground breaking ceremonies, Art receptions, Holiday Music Festival and many more. In addition, you can help welcome our servicemen and women as part of the "Welcome a Hero Program" which will be officially kicked off on August 2, 2007. Come out and celebrate life with a few of your closest friends.

History:
The Ambassador Program started in August 2000 with 11 volunteers. We have since grown to 125 volunteers that work from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday - Friday. Weekends from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. An early bird shift from 5:30 am to 9:30 am. We also have flexible shifts. We have monthly training (3 applicants min.) sessions. We provide the uniform which consists of a denim vest, name tag and cowboy hat. We ask that you wear khaki pants, dark closed toe shoes, white shirt or blouse with a collar.
