AAPAW
Alamo Area Partners for Animal Welfare (AAPAW) is a coalition of animal welfare organizations in the San Antonio, Texas area who have joined together to eliminate pet overpopulation through education and promoting the spaying and neutering of pets. AAPAW is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Description:
The primary mission of AAPAW is to bring together animal welfare groups, shelters and veterinarians to: *ensure that every adoptable, homeless dog or cat is placed in a permanent home. *end overpopulation by increasing spay and neuter. *educate citizens in order to prevent animal abuse and promote owner retention.
History:
Just a few years ago San Antonio had the highest kill rate of dogs and cats in the Nation (over 54,000 in one year). AAPAW was formed in 2006 as part of a strategic plan to make San Antonio a no-kill city by 2012.
