Description:
Amedisys Hospice of San Antonio is a full service hospice agency serving the patients of Bexar and surrounding counties. Hospice is a health care program that provides physical, emotional, and spiritual support to patients with life-limiting illnesses to enable the best quality of life for the patient. Hospice care allows the patient to live the remainder of his or her life at home in comfort and with dignity. Hospice also provides emotional and educational support to the patient's family to make their remaining time with the patient as meaningful as possible. Hospice provides grief support to family members for up to 13 months following the death of the patient.

History:
Amedisys Inc. began over 25 years ago by founder and CEO, William Bourne. Today, Amedisys is located in 47 states as well as Puerto Rico. Amedisys Hospice of San Antonio came to San Antonio in March 2007 with the acquisition of Mission Plus Hospice which had been privately owned for years prior to the acquisition.
