Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio
Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical, non-profit organization whose mission is to eliminate poverty housing in San Antonio by building simple, decent affordable homes in partnership with God's people in need.
Description:
Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to develop communities through the building of simple decent housing. We work with families whose total income is generally 25%-60% of the area median income. Habitat is not a charity or a hand-out program but instead effectively empowers families, lifting them out of the hopelessness of poverty and substandard, unsafe housing. We use volunteers throughout our organization.
History:
Established in 1976, HFHSA is the first affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, which is based in Americus, GA. At the end of 2007, HFHSA built 578 houses with families in need.
