Urban Connection - San Antonio
The mission of Urban Connection - San Antonio is to share the love of God while building genuine community in the neighborhoods where we live and work. We share the love of God and build genuine community through an After School Academy, Emergency Food Pantry, Clothes Closet, Employment Readiness Training, Kids Cafe, Summer, Winter and Spring Kids Kamps, Community Service Site Girl and Boy Scouts, Bible Study in partnership with More 2 Life Ministries.
History:
In the spring of 2002, Central Dallas Ministries, a community development ministry established in 1988, made a decision to expand their efforts into San Antonio, beginning on the West side of the city in the Lincoln Heights Courts operating under the name Urban Connection-San Antonio. Urban Connection began with one full-time Program Director, Leslie Kelsie-Grubbs, and a part-time Community Outreach Coordinator. Today, in addition to the program director, UC-SA employs a full-time Children's Program Coordinator, a Director of Operations and Resource Center Coordinator. Additional support is provided by numerous volunteers in the Lincoln Heights courts community and the San Antonio area at large who volunteer hundreds of hours per month.
