MELD (Mutual Enrichment through Learning and Discovery)
MELD brings together groups of parents who have similar parenting needs and provide them with support and information. Parent peer support groups ;meet for two hours once a week. Support areas are: Health and Safety; Child Guidance; Child Development; Parent Personal Development; and Community Resources.
Description:
MELD's mission is to strengthen families at critical periods of transition in parenthood. MELD brings together groups of parents who have similar parenting needs, provides them with pertinent information, and helps them develop into supportive peer groups. Description: MELD Special focuses on the "daily" challenges of raising a child. The groups address the impact of an illness or disability on children and family life. Discussions are geared to concerns faced by all parents, rather than medical information. Groups meet in various locations around San Antonio, with comfortable meeting space and available child care rooms. MELD Special groups are facilitated by experienced mothers and fathers who volunteers their time. Meetings are held once a week during both day and evening hours.
