The objective of the program is to utilize the warmth and mere presence of pets to spark increases feelings of happiness, self worth and fond memories among hospice patients. In addition, pets offer terminally ill patients the opportunity to touch and be touched. Pet volunteers and handlers will go to the the patients' residential setting and provide companionship for 2 hours a week. Looking for individuals whose furry loved ones are sweet, compassionate, well mannered, and friendly. Pets should have advance obedience training prior to joining (Canine Good Citizen Training and Certified)current vaccinations, and insurance. Pets and handlers will undergo additional training.
