In 2006-2007, 90% of Healy-Murphy Center students could not read at the eighth grade level when they first enrolled. By the end of May 2007, 84% of these students had improved in reading and/or in English/Language Arts. Faithful and dependable Reading, English, and Math tutors are always needed for HMC students. This is a great way to get to know some of the students and be an encouragement to them. We are required to run criminal background checks on any person who wishes to volunteer regularly at the high school or child development center. If you wish to bring a group for a one-day volunteer project, background checks are usually not needed, but you must coordinate with Healy-Murphy Center's Director of Development before arriving at the campus.
