The San Antonio Public Library is seeking energetic volunteers to perform as Libro the Library Lion mascot. The volunteers will make special appearances at city-wide events wearing the Libro costume. This would be the ideal community service experience for aspiring actors to add to their resume. Some of the upcoming dates for Libro appearances would be Thursday, September 10 at 9:30 a.m.: Rep. Castro's Book Drive at Wrenn Middle School, 627 S. Acme; Saturday, September 26 at 11 a.m. Camargo Park Graffiti Wipeout event, 5738 Castroville Rd.; Saturday, October 3, at 9 a.m.: Grand opening of Roosevelt Branch Library, 5110 Walzem; Saturday, October 11 at 1 p.m.: AccessAbility Fest, Institute of Texan Cultures, 801 S. Bowie; and Saturday, November 7 at 10 a.m.: Playful City, San Pedro Park, 1315 San Pedro Ave. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and be between 5'6" and 6'2" tall with a maximum weight of 250 lbs. Appearances are usually from one to four hours with 20 minute intervals in the costume. Volunteers must have transportation to the event sites. This position would be on an as-needed basis.
